Raholp and Bannaghan Road residents were delighted when a year-long campaign by Cllr Cadogan Enright to get a safer location for the bus stop in Raholp finally paid off.

The existing bus stop at St Tassachs Terrace will also be retained in recognition of the dangerous roads with no pavement connecting the two

Cllrs Enright and Curran have succeeded in over turning the negative policy on bus transport within the South Eastern Trust – Ministerial Support for public transport, and new NHS guidelines have provided new impetus to this campaign.

The Trust will now have to bring forward realistic proposals

Cllr Cadogan Enrights challenge to the Roads Services’ denial that there was congestion in Downpatrick finally succeeded with the resignation of local Roads Service officials who had denied the problem.

The most senior manager at the Roads Service came before Council and admitted there was a problem – while this creates no by-passes , it does allow Council to work with Road Service on the basis that there is a problem.

Cllr Cadogan Enright worked with Translink for a year to ensure that services could be rearranged so that;
1. Raholp and Saul were included AND
2. The commuter service links with Belfast bus connections.
