Cllr Cadogan Enright has welcomed news that Northern Ireland Water has finally agreed to repair the road to Coast Guard Cottages in Killough after a 3-year campaign.

Cllr Cadogan Enright said “This road has not been taken in charge by DOE and therefore repairs would fall to the mostly elderly residents up at the cottages. It was conceded 3 years ago by Northern Ireland Water that that their heavy vehicles have caused damage to the road, but it has taken until now to come clean. Repair work was initially promised in December 2008 but we have been promised that DOE engineers will be on site early this week to carry out repair work.”

Local resident Anthony Kearney said, “The suspension on my car has been damaged on more than one occasion due to the size of the potholes on the road.”

Another resident, Mr Jim Manley said, “I am pleased that NIW has contacted Cllr Enright apologising for the three year delay in having repair work carried out and promising that engineers will be on site this week.”
