Councillor Cadogan Enright has called on local people in Strangford town to ask their MLA’s , Ministers and MP who are running for re-election what they have done about the failure of the Department of Education and the local trust to deliver on a crossing guard for Saint Joseph’s school on the Downpatrick Road in the town.

Cadogan Enright said “We all know that the crossing guard was refused based on ‘insufficient traffic’ on the road outside the school. We also all know that there that Strangford Town is clearly an exception to the simple numbers rule as the traffic in Strangford is “bunched” because of the Ferry, and that some motorists are heedless of the risks to local people as they speed down to catch the Ferry”

“I would be interested to hear what the two big parties in this area have done to resolve this deplorable situation.”
