ISSUES WITH LECALE WAY FROM LOUGH MONEY TO SAINT PATRICK’S LANDING JANUARY 2026

This is an update for NM&D Council’s manager Thomas Price from the last report in 2020 which can be seen here at this link to 2020 Lecale Mainenance report

Section of route where issues still exist

Much praise must be given to Council staff for bringing back this important pilgrim path from years of lack of mainenance since 2014.

However some of the issues highlighted in the 2020 report still exist in the key section in this picture on the left

There is still a significant blockage on a small section of the way-marked route between Saint Patricks Road in Raholp and the main Strangford Road.

The 50 Meters before the rebuilt style on the Northern side of the Stranford Road is still blocked.

There is a still lack of mainenance on the North Western side of Fiddlers Bridge where briars and hedges have not been cut back (That being said is is worth saying that there is several kilometers of good work from Ballyaltion, to Lough Money and down to Myra road which is a big imporvement over 2020).

And the rights of way number CD/RW/6010 at Saint Patricks Landing is still in the state – or worse – that it was in in 2020.

TO DEAL WITH EACH OF THESE ISSUES IN TURN
